Bergen County Practice Expands Inclusive Mental Health Support Services
River Edge, United States – June 3, 2026 / Equality Mental Health /
RIVER EDGE, NJ, June 1, 2026 — Equality Mental Health announced the introduction of an expanded gender affirming therapy program, adding structured assessment protocols, family support options, and coordinated mental health workflows for clients experiencing gender-related emotional distress.
The update follows increased demand for inclusive mental health services across Bergen County as more individuals, families, and couples seek support related to gender identity, anxiety, relationship stress, and emotional well-being. The practice reported growing need for therapy models that address identity-related concerns within broader mental health and family communication frameworks.
“Clients are often looking for a setting where they can examine identity, relationships, anxiety, and emotional conflict without pressure toward a predetermined outcome,” said H. Craig Cutler, Founder and President of Equality Mental Health. “The updated program supports a more structured, collaborative process for clients and families navigating these concerns.”
The expanded program includes standardized intake discussions, identity-related stress assessment, emotional health screening, and individualized therapy planning. These workflows are designed to support consistent documentation and improve coordination across individual, family, couples, and adolescent therapy services.
Equality Mental Health also expanded its family and relationship support framework for cases involving communication challenges, caregiver concerns, relationship strain, and identity-related stress within home, school, and work environments. The model supports structured conversations focused on emotional safety, boundary setting, and improved communication patterns.
The practice reported that common client concerns include anxiety, depression, shame, emotional disconnection, social stress, relationship conflict, and difficulty discussing gender identity with family members or partners. These patterns contributed to the practice’s decision to formalize gender affirming therapy within a broader mental health support model.
The program serves adults, adolescents, children, couples, and families through in-person and telehealth psychotherapy services. Treatment planning may include individual therapy, family sessions, couples therapy, group-based support, and referrals for psychiatric consultation when appropriate.
Equality Mental Health stated that the expanded program reflects an ongoing shift toward process-driven, identity-informed mental health care, where structured assessment, coordinated therapy planning, and long-term emotional support are prioritized across client care pathways.
The practice indicated that it will continue refining its gender affirming therapy services as community needs evolve and demand for inclusive mental health support increases across Bergen County.
