Bucket Teeth and Cutting Edges

When the teeth lose their edge, the entire machine has to work twice as hard to scoop the same amount of dirt. This burns more diesel fuel and places unnecessary stress on the hydraulic system. You’ll need to swap out bucket teeth frequently, sometimes multiple times a season depending on your daily workload and the soil conditions in your area. Rubber and Steel Tracks

Sharp debris, rusty rebar, and jagged stones slice into the rubber, eventually snapping the internal steel cables. Steel tracks last longer but face similar wear issues. The metal links stretch out, the pins wear thin, and the track shoes become smooth. Replacing tracks is a routine part of ownership, and checking their tension regularly helps stretch out their lifespan just a bit longer.
Undercarriage Rollers and Sprockets
Your tracks don’t operate alone; they rely on a system of sprockets, idlers, and rollers to spin smoothly. The drive sprocket pulls the track along, and its teeth gradually grind down into sharp, pointed shapes instead of their original rounded profiles. When a sprocket wears down too far, it starts slipping out of the track links, causing a jarring ride and risking a thrown track.

The small rubber O-Rings inside the connector fittings also flatten out over time, leading to slow, frustrating drips. Filters for Fluid and Air
While they might not be the most expensive parts, filters are undeniably the components you’ll replace most frequently. Your engine needs clean air to run efficiently, and construction sites are inherently dusty. Engine air filters clog up rapidly, choking off the oxygen supply and reducing engine power.
Fuel filters catch the water and debris often found in bulk diesel tanks, keeping those impurities out of your expensive fuel injectors. Additionally, hydraulic filters catch the tiny metal shavings generated by normal pump wear. If you skip replacing these filters, the trapped debris bypasses the element and circulates straight into the engine and hydraulic pumps, leading to catastrophic internal damage.
