CALIFORNIA, USA – August 21, 2026 – Artist and author Linda Gail Litteral shares her deeply personal journey of survival and healing in her memoir, Show and Tell: Healing from Trauma Through Art, a courageous exploration of how creativity can help transform trauma into hope, empowerment, and renewal.

In Show and Tell, Litteral recounts her experiences surviving childhood abuse, and domestic violence while examining the lasting emotional and psychological effects of trauma. Through honesty and vulnerability, she explores themes of silence, shame, identity, trust, and the challenges many survivors face while searching for healing.
Rather than allowing her past to define her future, Litteral discovered healing through multiple therapeutic approaches and, ultimately, through the creation and sharing of her artwork. The memoir features full color images of her art, alongside the stories behind each piece and the role they played in her recovery journey.
“Art became a way for me to express what words could not,” says Litteral. “Through creativity, survivors can discover a visual voice and a pathway toward healing.”
A multi-disciplinary artist, Litteral works across ceramics, sculpture, painting, drawing, wood, and mixed media. She earned her MFA from San Diego State University, where her thesis explored art as a means of exposing and healing childhood abuse {through a visual voice). Her career has included teaching art at several colleges, facilitating healing-focused art classes in correctional facilities, and using creativity as a tool for personal and community transformation.
Her artwork has been exhibited internationally and is included in collections such as Museu Brasileira De Escultura in São Paulo, Brazil, and the Jingdezhen Ceramic Institute in China. She has also participated in artistic residencies and exhibitions focused on women, social change, and advocacy.
Through Show and Tell, Litteral hopes to remind survivors that they are not alone and that healing is possible. Her message is that art can serve as a release and a transformative tool, providing individuals with a way to process experiences that may be too difficult to express through words.
