Mayor Cherelle Parker to Join Ceremony
PHILADELPHIA, PA / ACCESS Newswire / April 15, 2026 / City officials, along with residents, will join executives of the Philadelphia Housing Authority (PHA) and The Michaels Organization for a ribbon-cutting and grand opening ceremony for Harlan Sharswood Townhouses, a new 43-unit affordable housing community in the North Philadelphia neighborhood of Sharswood. In addition, the ceremony will also celebrate the completion of renovations to the original 70-unit Sharswood Townhouses community that were done concurrently with the new development.

Harlan Sharswood Townhouses offers two- and three-bedroom apartments across 24 stacked flat and townhome-style buildings, comprising 43 affordable rental units. The new community features a community room, offices for on-site management, and a common laundry facility. In conjunction with the new community opening, Michaels has also completed the rehabilitation of the 70-unit Sharswood Townhouses, originally developed in 2000, bringing the total to 113 units. The community was completely renovated, with major building upgrades and interior and exterior improvements. Both the new development and modernization of the existing affordable housing are part of the Sharswood Blumberg Transformation Plan, a Neighborhood Choice Initiative between PHA and HUD.
